Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure

This page sets out Reclaimed Roots’ position on affiliate links, sponsored content, and any other arrangement where money may change hands in connection with our editorial work. It is meant to be plain and practical, and to make it easy for any reader to understand exactly what they are reading.

Affiliate links

Reclaimed Roots may, from time to time, include affiliate links to products or retailers we believe are genuinely relevant to a piece’s subject — for example, a book on Indian woodworking, a tool a reader might want to buy, or a workshop’s online catalogue. Where such a link earns us a small commission at no additional cost to the reader, that is the entire commercial relationship: a small commission on a click-through. Affiliate placements never determine the editorial conclusion of an article, and we do not include affiliate links in pieces where they would be misleading or off-topic.

How affiliate links are marked

When an article includes affiliate links, we mark them clearly, either inline near the link or with a disclosure line near the top of the post. Readers should never be in any doubt about whether a link is editorial or commercial. If you ever find an affiliate link that you believe is not properly labelled, please write to us and we will fix it.

Sponsored content

We do not currently publish sponsored or paid editorial. If, in the future, we accept commissioned editorial work — for example, a feature on a maker who has paid for visibility — we will clearly label that article as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership”, segregate it from our editorial archive, and apply the same factual standards we apply to our independent work. Sponsorship will never change what we say about a product or maker.

Display advertising

This site may, in the future, display third-party advertising via networks such as Google AdSense. Display ads are served programmatically and are not editorial endorsements. The presence of an ad does not imply we recommend the advertiser. Readers concerned about ad personalisation can review our Privacy Policy for details on cookies and opt-out options.

Gifts and review samples

If we ever receive a product, sample, or workshop visit as a gift or for review purposes, that fact will be disclosed in the relevant article. Receiving a sample never obliges us to write favourably; in some cases, the most useful thing we can tell readers is that a piece did not live up to its claims.

Reader trust

Everything on this page exists for one reason: to keep reader trust intact. If you ever feel a piece on Reclaimed Roots has crossed a line, please write to us through the Contact page. We take that feedback seriously.
